A number of steep climbs alternate with more gentle uphill sections, leading up past the Schmugglerscharte and the impressive glacier lake up to the Schönen Aussicht mountain refuge hut and on to the finishing point of the Ötzi Alpine Marathon at the Grawand at 3,212 mt. above sea-level. Ötzi, the Man from the Ice, was found on the nearby Tisenjoch at much the same altitude and the great views of the surrounding peaks are just reward for the participants after so much hard work and training
